Chicago,
The Water Tower’s a charm.
<3———-Seattle
It was pretty silly how the CPD threatened to take us “downtown” for pillow fighting. I’m sure it’s been thought of, but what about grant or millennium park? I remember last year one of the officers said we should go to there.
How bout one of the train stations? Is the mall an option? Ooh, here’s an idea! What about Navy Pier? Or outside of Wrigley Field? Or Soldier Field? Any chance it can just be thrown along a random street?
Well i want to join the fun so my idea is the conservatory right of the green line. The park is huge and there’s alot of open space without tree’s.
I’ll take all these suggestions into consideration, thanks!
The CPD DID, in fact, take several of us downtown. It was unpleasant, inconvenient, and expensive, even after we argued our way out of most of the fines. Hopefully less drama this year.
Thanks for the ideas, we’re meeting to plan things this week, so I’ll add those to the list!
DETAILS!!
…it’s time to get your pillows ready, and your battle face painted. You’re a member of this group, so you know what’s involved. Glory shall be thy weapon and victory shall by thy name!

IF YOU’VE BEEN BEFORE…you know that pillows rip and feathers fly every year. We LOVE our city and RESPECT those who keep it beautiful! We will show our LOVE and RESPECT by maintaining a small clean up crew for this event. IF YOU WANT IN, send an email to chicagopillowfighters@gmail.com and be prepared to bring brooms, dustpans, and garbage bags!
We look forward to seeing you all April 3rd at 2 pm at the corner of Michigan Avenue and the Chicago River for a day of glorious battle!
Greetings, fellow pillowfighters!
We’re all really looking forward to this year’s bash. We hope you’ll all come out and make this the biggest and best ‘fight ever. We also want this event to be safe, and respectful to the community that hosts it! To that end, here are some guidelines for Chicago’s participation in World/International/Global Pillow Fight Day, 2010!
1. Please do not bring feather or down pillows!
2. If you must bring a feather or down pillow, please do not tear it open!
3. If you do tear open your pillow, or see others doing so, please stick around and help clean up!
I know a lot of ‘fighters really enjoy the flying feathers, but the simple truth is that a huge blizzard of down floating around the streets, parks, and into the river is a nightmare to clean up, not just for us, but for city workers who are probably underpaid and overworked. Beyond that, it’s not kind to the environment or to our fellow citizens. So, like the owl says, “Give a Hoot, Don’t Pollute!”
4. Do not swing at persons who are clearly not participating!
5. Do not swing at persons who are not holding pillows.
6. Do not swing at persons who are holding cameras.
7. Small children are fragile! Please pummel the hobbits with care!
This has never been a problem in the past, so I don’t expect it will be this year, but just to be safe, let’s make sure the only people getting smacked are those who want to be. If you’re worried there won’t be enough targets, make sure to bring lots of friends!
8. Take care not to disrupt vehicle or foot traffic. Stay out of walkways and streets.
9. Take care not to interfere with non-participants who are going about their business.
10. Please obey all posted laws and instructions from law enforcement officials.
11. Please, no alcoholic beverages or other recreational substances (even the legal ones).
We’re here to have fun and to make people smile, and maybe even to make some people realize the world isn’t all work and no play; but there will always be those for whom such things are “childish” or inappropriate. Those people can’t be saved, so let them be. Additionally, this is a family friendly and community friendly event, so please don’t engage in any illegal or reckless behaviors. Pillowfighting can be a blast without anybody needing to take a ride downtown. Finally,
12. There will be volunteers, but EVERYONE is encouraged to stick around and help clean up afterwards.
Trash bags and gloves will be provided. Heck, you can even clean up the regular litter too, if you want. No reason we can’t give back a little, right? When clean up is done, please feel free to join us at the legendary Billy Goat Tavern for post-battle refreshments and tales of bravery and heroic deeds!
As of this post, we have over 100 cities around the world participating, how awesome is that? Let’s make sure Chicago remains one of the most memorable, fantastic, and safe cities to pillowfight in!
Thanks!
